ActivWall As Seen On Netflix

Anaré Holmes with his ActivWall Gas Strut Window

If you watched the new Netflix home makeover show “Instant Dream Home”, you might have noticed an ActivWall Gas Strut Window in episode three.

ActivWall Systems, a custom window and door company based in Martinsville, Virginia, was honored to be included in the heartwarming 2022 reality series where designers transform a home in just 12 hours.

Danielle Brooks hosts the show with a team of four skilled designers: Adair Curtis, Erik Curtis, Nick Cutsumpas, and Paige Mobley.

In episode three, “A Room with A View”, the team planned a surprise makeover for Anaré Holmes of Atlanta, Georgia. Anaré is a firefighter EMT who is the first person in his family to own a house. An avid humanitarian who serves as an LGBTQ Liaison and the Assistant Public Information Officer for a metro Atlanta fire rescue department, Anaré strives to tell untold and under-reported stories about compelling characters that shape American life.

Since purchasing the 1920s bungalow, Anaré has not had time to make the house he shares with his partner and mom a real home. That’s when Danielle and the design team stepped in to transform the home and create a cozy and inviting space where Anaré could enjoy spending time with friends and family.

When planning the renovation, Interior Designer Adair Curtis explained “We really need to open up the kitchen, he loves to entertain.” Adair added that he wants to “make sure Anaré has the entertainer’s kitchen that he really deserves.”

To accomplish this, Adair knocked down the interior wall of the galley kitchen to create an open floor plan with an island. Adair installed an ActivWall Gas Strut Window on the back wall of the home to connect the indoor dining space with the back deck for grilling and entertaining.

The 48″ wide by 36″ high window opens out on sturdy gas struts to create a pass-through serving window. It features a white powder coat finish and has no sill (one of six sill options available) to make a smooth countertop transition between the interior and exterior of the home.

When the Holmes family is done grilling or entertaining, they can give the window a push from the deck to close or close it from the inside with the ActivWall Pull Hook. The window is made with thermally-broken aluminum and insulated glass for maximum energy-efficiency year round. In tweets from Anaré, he said, “Thank you ActivWall for enhancing our home,” He added, “this Gas Strut Window in our kitchen is EVERYTHING!”

Be sure to watch the show to see all the surprises and design details included in this home. “Instant Dream Home” is available to stream now on Netflix.

On behalf of the entire ActivWall team, we hope that Anaré, his partner, and mother all have a lifetime of enjoyment in their beautiful home.
