For their project, The Magnolia Ridge, a stunning residence in the Airlie at Wrightsville Sound community, we crafted a custom swing door that has become a standout feature in the home.
Measuring 32 inches wide by 99 inches tall, this sleek aluminum frame swing door was designed to blend style with utility. Featuring two horizontal Simulated Divided Lites (SDLs) and Grilles Between Glass (GBGs), the door allows natural light to filter through while maintaining visual separation between rooms. A European-style mortise lock handle adds a refined touch, complementing the home’s upscale aesthetic.
Installed at the entrance to a cozy wine bar just off the kitchen, this swing door provides a sense of privacy while still maintaining an open, airy feel. Its design perfectly aligns with the home’s “modern organic” style—an aesthetic marked by natural materials, warm textures, and minimalist sophistication. This thoughtful approach to design is the hallmark of Annah Knecht, Owner and Creative Director of Grace Custom Homes, who hand-selected every element in the home to ensure a cohesive and elevated living experience.
The Magnolia Ridge recently took center stage in the Wilmington Cape Fear Home Builders Association Parade of Homes. Visitors were especially drawn to the bar area’s ActivWall door, noting its seamless integration into the space and its unique combination of beauty and practicality. Alongside other standout features like a spa-inspired master bathroom, a dual-sided fireplace between the living and dining rooms, and a creatively designed bunk room, the home earned several special feature awards, and took home the coveted GOLD overall in its price range.
