Located on the shore of Deep Creek Lake in Maryland, Firewater Kitchen & Bar is the perfect spot to sip on a cocktail and catch up with old friends. The unique restaurant provides a relaxed and contemporary atmosphere with rustic details like natural wood, stacked stone, and fireplaces. It is accessible via boat from May through October and is just a short drive from Wisp Resort.
To fully enjoy the expansive views of Deep Creek Lake from the inside, ActivWall had the privilege to custom build 14 Gas Strut Windows for the project. Doug Storck of DCL Design Studio chose four different size ActivWall windows for this project.
The windows were finished in a dark bronze powder coat with insulated glass, and each window unit has a raised saddle sill for all-weather protection against the elements.
Doug explained, “ActivWall Gas Strut Windows are a key element in the biophilic design of Firewater Kitchen and Bar. The restaurants interconnection between interior and exterior space, place and environment through natural light, fresh air and social connection is a direct attribute of the design and functionality of these windows.”
The innovative Gas Strut Windows by ActivWall lift up and out on sturdy struts to enhance air circulation, create convenient serving windows for staff, and provide unobstructed lake views.
Jeany Blamble, the General Manager of Firewater Kitchen, said, “The windows are a fabulous addition to our restaurant! There is a real WOW factor when our guests see them opening.” The windows open out to a 1,700 sq. ft. patio that features heated pavers and a 32′ linear fireplace for spring and fall dining.
ActivWall Gas Strut Windows are made for commercial and residential use. They feature impact-resistant glass, energy-efficient aluminum frames, sturdy hardware, and a comprehensive warranty.
