When the owners of this Oregon home decided it was time to update their kitchen, they turned to Brothers Building for a renovation that would bring in light, function, and modern style. The result is a stunning transformation that features hand-built cabinets, a custom-fabricated metal hood vent, and an ActivWall Gas Strut Window as focal points of the space.

The original kitchen was spacious but dated, with dark wood cabinets and countertops. A row of traditional windows above the sink provided a view of the outdoors, but they didn’t fully connect the interior space to the beautiful landscape outside.

Brothers Building reimagined the kitchen with fresh, contemporary design choices. White cabinetry paired with sleek brass hardware instantly brightened the space, while a custom vent hood and elegant pendant lighting added sophistication.

The biggest change came at the back wall: the standard windows were replaced with an ActivWall Gas Strut Window, which opens upward to create a seamless pass-through between the kitchen and the covered porch. This feature allows fresh air and natural light to flood the room, while making it easy to entertain guests outdoors, grill on the patio, and enjoy meals with a view. The outswing window has a black powder-coated finish and a flush sill.
