Virgin Hotels Dallas

ActivWall had the honor of crafting custom Gas Strut Windows for the Virgin Hotels Dallas in Texas, bringing bold design and functionality to one of the city’s most vibrant destinations. 

Installed in the patio kitchen of the hotel’s rooftop bar, The Pool Club, these airy windows create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection for staff and guests alike. The thermally broken aluminum frames open effortlessly to form a pass-through for serving and to extend the energy of the bar onto the rooftop terrace.

Two unique units were designed for this project:

• A striking three-panel Gas Strut Window measuring 180″ wide by 50″ high, offering an expansive opening for service.
• A 56″ wide by 58″ high ADA-accessible Gas Strut Window, installed lower to ensure inclusivity and convenience for all.

To reflect the Virgin Hotels’ signature style, the windows were custom powder-coated in the brand’s iconic red. Matching pull handles continue the bold look, while brushed chrome interior locking handles add a sleek, modern accent. With just a gentle push, the windows glide open, and when it’s time to close, ActivWall’s optional pull hook makes it simple. (See the demo video below.)

This project was designed by 5G Studio Collaborative, whose work on the Virgin Hotel Dallas has earned the firm many awards, including the 2022 American Architecture Award®, the nation’s highest public honor recognizing excellence in new building design and construction.
