When the team at Blackacre Builders planned this 5,400 square foot, contemporary modern home in Houston, they wanted to include a way to connect the covered back porch to the kitchen for entertaining.

The designers ordered an ActivWall Gas Strut Window that opens on sturdy commercial-grade struts to create a serving bar and pass-through window. The unit measures 96″ wide x 48″ high and is finished in a black powder coat. 

Under the window, a quartz countertop extends out to the porch so that guests can pull up stools for seating. The window has no sill, which creates a smooth counter transition. It is one of six sill options that customers can choose. 

We love all the details the builders included in this space, such as a fireplace, summer kitchen, and patio bath. Inside the window bar, they added built-in wine storage and a beverage refrigerator for convenient serving.
