Indiana Kitchen Remodel

We fell in love when we stumbled across photos of this Instagram-worthy kitchen! The white subway tile, natural wood elements, rich brass accents, and dramatic navy cabinets create a beautiful and inviting space.

The stunning renovation was led by Innovative Homes & Remodeling and Jennie Thomas Design, both of Zionsville, Indiana. They expanded their vision to include the outdoors when transforming the home’s small U-shaped kitchen and rarely-used dining room into a large open concept space.

The kitchen’s back wall is adjacent to a screened porch, so the team replaced the existing window with an ActivWall Gas Strut Window. It opens up and out to create a serving bar and allows for conversation between the two spaces.

Measuring 72″ wide by 42″ high, the out-swing window is finished in jet black powder coat to coordinate with the black under-mount sink and dual-tone Kohler faucet. A natural wood counter is mounted on the window’s exterior, and bar stools were added to create an extra seating area.

According to Jennie, “the client loves their window!” She added that the Gas Strut Window “truly brings the outdoors in and creates party vibes by allowing guests to talk from room to room and grab a pass-through drink or snack!”

The ActivWall Gas Strut Window adds style and function for warmer months when the screened porch is used, but it is also packed with energy-efficient features to ensure that the Indiana homeowners stay cozy in colder months.

On the kitchen’s far wall, the design team added ample storage while keeping traffic flow open. They used 14″ deep cabinets for the pantry wall, which Jennie noted “is the perfect depth for dinner plates, and just about anything else you could ever want to store.”
