Outdoor Kitchen in Oregon

Outdoor Kitchen with ActivWall Gas Strut Window

When the Bauer family was designing their new custom home in Oregon, they knew they wanted a pass-through window connecting the home’s kitchen to the grilling area and outdoor kitchen on their covered deck.

They worked with Portland Millwork, an Authorized ActivWall Dealer, to order an ActivWall Gas Strut Window for the project.

The custom-made Gas Strut Window is 84.88″ wide and 62.38″ high. The thermally-broken aluminum frame is finished in a jet black powder coat and features insulated glass and no sill for a smooth countertop transition.

The window opens up to 90 degrees on sturdy gas struts to allow the Bauer family to pass food between the two cooking areas and converse with guests.

When they are done grilling, dining, and enjoying the deck, they can push the window closed from the outside or shut it from the inside with the optional ActivWall Pull Hook.

Each window is fully customizable, so the Bauers selected dark bronze hardware and an optional add-on kickstand, which allows the window to be opened partially for ventilation.
